About the opinion for ARW Essay 1

I chose the theme about memory which is the second of all that Chris gave us.

I guess there are three major effects of memory. First, memory enables students save the time to investigate the information which once they have gotten. Second, memories in one's mind can stimulate each other and generate new ideas. Third, if one have various memories, when he/she is talking with someone, can pose a lot of accurate question and pull many pieces of useful information out of the talk without adequate preparation.

It is true that memory is important in academic life but not that every type of memory is worth keeping in mind for students. How they learn it makes differences. If it is learned by heart, it diminishes soon but if learned by mind with good reasons and logical basis, it stays in mind much longer than in the former case it does.

I will take some quotation from Mailand or Morgan, of cause not only them but what they wrote are valuable for me because their insistences are very like mine.

How do good teacher presents

In P.4 Mailand sais that "good teacher present some information in the sence of "what is currently believed"" because "new type of interectual work are required at college level."

I agree with Mailand. The first point is about critical thinking. Teachers should help their students form their own minds which are nessesery for them to succeed in college. Even if a teacher give his/her students formulas of thinking, they could not be the best way of thinking foe each students. There is no way to acquire critical thinking but to learn it for one self. Moreover, Critical thinking will be useful after getting jobs, but at that time, students will have no time to cultivate ourselves in mind. That`s why students should form their critically logical mind, and teachers should help them. The second point is about the necessity of logical structure in documents. All kinds of sciences must be based on strict logic. If there are some hypothesises without logical structure, they will be denied soon.
